Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ShortRest websites, mobile applications, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using ShortRest, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
ShortRest is a marketplace that connects guests looking for short-stay rooms (hourly or daily) with hosts who list rooms. ShortRest provides the platform, booking tools, messaging, host verification workflows, and related support. Unless we expressly say otherwise, ShortRest is not the owner or operator of listed rooms and is not a party to the stay agreement between guest and host.

2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use ShortRest.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.
- One person may not maintain multiple accounts to evade bans, fees, or reviews.
3. The ShortRest marketplace
3.1 Guests
Guests may browse listings, book rooms by the hour or day, message hosts, and manage bookings in the app. You agree to use rooms only for lawful, peaceful, short-stay purposes consistent with the listing and host house rules.
3.2 Hosts
Hosts may list rooms after completing ShortRest’s host requirements, which may include identity verification (KYC), a host subscription, and uploading at least three room photos. You represent that you have the legal right to offer the room, that listings are accurate, and that the space is reasonably safe and fit for short stays.
3.3 Listings and availability
Hosts control pricing, availability, and house rules (subject to these Terms and applicable law). ShortRest may remove or suspend listings that are misleading, unsafe, illegal, or otherwise violate these Terms.
4. Bookings, payments, and cancellations
- Booking confirmation and payment processing may be handled through ShortRest and/or third-party payment providers (for example, Flutterwave).
- Prices are shown in the app (typically in NGN unless otherwise stated) and may include platform or processing fees disclosed at checkout.
- Host subscription fees, where applicable, are charged as described in the app and are generally non-refundable once processing begins, except where required by law.
- Cancellation, no-show, and refund rules may vary by listing and will be shown in the booking flow where available. If a stay cannot be completed due to host fault, contact hello@shortrestapp.com promptly so we can help resolve the issue.
- Host wallet balances and withdrawal requests are subject to ShortRest admin review. ShortRest may delay, reverse, or refuse payouts where fraud, dispute, chargeback, or policy violation is suspected.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use ShortRest for illegal activity, trafficking, or unauthorized commercial use of a room.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
- Post false listings, fake reviews, or manipulated photos.
- Attempt to bypass ShortRest for payments to avoid fees after discovering a listing on the platform.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service.
- Upload malware or content that infringes others’ rights.
6. Verification and trust & safety
ShortRest may require government ID, proof of address, and other KYC documents for hosts. Submission does not guarantee approval. We may reject, suspend, or revoke host status at our discretion for risk, compliance, or policy reasons. Guests and hosts must cooperate with reasonable safety and fraud investigations.
7. Content and intellectual property
You retain rights to content you upload (such as room photos and messages), and grant ShortRest a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, display, and use that content to operate and promote the Service. ShortRest’s name, logo, and software are owned by ShortRest or its licensors and may not be used without permission.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortRest disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free listings, or the conduct of users. Stays occur between guests and hosts; ShortRest does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or suitability of any room.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortRest and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to ShortRest in the three months before the claim or (b) NGN 50,000. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold ShortRest harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your listings or stays, your content, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using ShortRest at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or withhold payouts if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, or as required by law. Provisions that by nature should survive (including liability limits, indemnity, and IP) will survive termination.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes may also be communicated in-app or by email where appropriate.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Nigeria shall have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence provide otherwise.
